TakeDose ("the app", "we") is a medication reminder and tracking app. This policy explains what data the app processes, why, where it is stored and what your rights are. We designed TakeDose to collect as little as possible: no advertising, no tracking SDKs, no analytics profiling, and no sale of data.
1. Data we process

Medication and dose information is health-related data. It is processed solely to provide the reminder service you requested and never for advertising or profiling.
We do not collect precise location, contacts, photos or advertising identifiers. If the app crashes, an anonymous crash report (device model, OS version, app version, stack trace) is sent to Firebase Crashlytics so we can fix the bug; it never contains your medication data.
2. How reminders work
Reminders are scheduled locally on your device using the operating system's notification and alarm services. Caregiver alerts ("someone you care for missed a dose") are the only server-sent notifications; they are generated from the medication data of a profile that was explicitly shared with you.
3. Where data is stored and who processes it
Your account and medication data are stored in Google Firebase (Firebase Authentication, Cloud Firestore, Cloud Functions and Cloud Messaging), operated by Google LLC, in the europe-west1 (Belgium) region. Google acts as our data processor under the Firebase Data Processing and Security Terms. Data is encrypted in transit and at rest.
Access is restricted by security rules so that each user can read and write only their own data, plus profiles that another user has explicitly shared with them through an invite code. A copy is also cached on your device so the app works offline.
We do not share your data with any other third party. We will disclose data only if required by law.
4. Legal basis (GDPR / KVKK)
We process your data to perform the service you asked for (GDPR Art. 6(1)(b)) and, for health-related medication data, on the basis of your explicit consent given when you create your account and enter medications (GDPR Art. 9(2)(a); Turkish KVKK Art. 6). You can withdraw consent at any time by deleting your account.
5. Retention
Data is kept for as long as your account exists. When you delete your account, all profiles, medications, dose logs, sharing relationships and your authentication record are deleted immediately from our systems. Backups held by Google are purged according to Google's standard schedules (typically within 30 days).
6. Your rights
- Access and portability – all your data is visible in the app; e-mail us for a machine-readable export.
- Rectification – edit any medication or dose entry in the app.
- Erasure – Settings → Data & privacy → Delete account removes everything, no request needed.
- Objection, restriction, complaint – contact us, or lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority (in Türkiye: KVKK Kurumu).
7. Children
TakeDose is not directed at children under 16. A parent or guardian may use the app to manage a child's medication under their own account.
8. Not medical advice
TakeDose is a reminder tool. It does not provide medical advice, diagnosis or dosing recommendations. Always follow the instructions of your doctor or pharmacist. Reminder delivery depends on your device settings (battery optimisation, notification permissions) and cannot be guaranteed.

We will post any changes on this page and update the date above. Material changes will also be announced inside the app.
